Taking you back to September 18, 2004. Skye Ashner was the longest reigning DCWL Grand Champion to date, and future Grand Champion Jackson Hunter was making his first main event appearance in the DCWL. It was about respect. It was about sacrifice. It was about who could go to the best-of-three falls...

**DING DING DING** PA: "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN ... the following contest is the MAIN EVENT of CORNERSTONE REVOLUTION ... it is a BEST TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS MATCH, and is for the DCWL GRAND CHAMPIOOOOOONSHIP!!! Introducing first, the challenger..." (The crowd rises to their feet, already directing their jeers towards the entranceway before anything happens.) "JUST WATCH ME" ("Weapon" by Matthew Good beings to play overhead, while the continually growing reaction from the crowd nearly drowns out the tune!) % Here by my side; an angel, % % Here by my side; the devil. % % Never turn your back on me, % % Never turn your back on me again. % % Here by my side, it’s heaven. % % Here by my side you are destruction.% % Here by my side, a new color to paint the world % % Never turn your back on it, % % Never turn your back on it again. % % Here by my side, it's heaven. % PA: "... hailing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewn ... and weighing 236 pounds ... JACKSOOOOON HUUUUUUUNTER!!!" (And once the intro plays out, there's the once blue-spiked-hair one, Jackson Hunter, now bleached an awkward shade of blonde. He's got his ring gear on-- the snakeskin patterned tights and black boots-- as well as a warm-up jacket. And he doesn't look too happy.) % Be careful, % % Be careful, % % Be careful, % % Be careful, % % This is where the world drops off, % % This is where the world drops off. % % Be careful, % % Be careful. % (Jax slowly struts his way down to the ring, ignoring the entirety of humanity surrounding, as he removes the jacket and throws it in the face of a ring attendant, before adjusting his black elbow pads.) % And you breathe in, % % And you breathe out, for it. % % Ain’t it so weird, % % How it makes you a weapon. % % And you give in, % % And you give out, for it. % % Ain’t it so weird, % % How it makes you a weapon. % % Never turn your back on it, % % Never turn your back on it, % % Again... % (As Jax reaches the end of the aisle, he dashes, sliding into the ring. He mounts the middle turnbuckle, but facing AWAY from the crowd, and raises his arms, seemingly to himself.) PA: "And his opponent ..." -[The lights in the arena go out, resulting in an immediate and deafening pop from the crowd! In the complete blackness, some camera flashes are seen. The video wall then lights up with the words, in an elegant font "The New Classic" as a very soothing melody plays over the loudspeakers. It is an elegant piece by Mozart, and it is interrupted by the whispering voice of “The New Classic” himself, Skye Ashner, as correspondingly a semi-transparent view of his face appears on screen.]- “It will be in a sense... CLASSIC!” -[Suddenly, as POD’s “Alive” begins to play over the DCWL arena sound system, the strobe lights on the ramp way illuminate the arena and sends the fans to their feet. The video wall shifts from just the plain writing to video clips of amazing acrobatics by Ashner. Strutting out from behind the curtain comes Skye, wearing a black and gold silk shirt. The shirt is unbuttoned, exposing his chiseled abs, and stunning features, and also bears Japanese kanji all over it, including a large symbol on the back subtitled with “CLASSIC.” The gold kanji on the shirt is in a metallic style, and reflects the flashing lights as Skye stands on the ramp in a confident pose. His tights match the shirt, with the same metallic gold kanji around the waist and a large kanji also subtitled “CLASSIC” on each thigh. The main plate of the Grand Championship title belt can be seen under the shirt, and over his lower abdomen. Even more notable, is the fact that Ashner wears TWO deluxe knee braces, one on each leg. As the lyrics start, Ashner points down the ramp with his index fingers with a smirk and a nod and begins to half-limp down it, as a sole spotlight follows him.]- # Every day is a new day! # # I’m thankful for every breath I take! # # I won’t take it for granted, (I won’t take it for granted) # # So I learn from my mistakes # # It’s beyond my control, sometimes it’s best to let go # # Whatever happens in this lifetime # # So I trust in love, (So I Trust in Love...) # # You have given me peace of mind... # PA: "... hailing from Kyoto Japan ... weighing in at 205 pounds ... here is the DCWL Grand Champion ... 'THE NEEEEEEEEW CLASSIC' SKYEEEE AAAAAAAAASSSSHNEEEEEER!!!" -[Skye gets about halfway down the ramp, then he starts reaching over the guardrails slapping the hands of the DCWL fan base, smiling as he limps down to the ring. As he finishes his strut down the ramp, he slowly climbs the ring steps, showing clear signs of discomfort, but once on the apron Ashner is pointing out to the fans, who respond with generous ovation.]- # I... # # I feel so ALIVE! # # For the very first time, I can’t deny you. # # I feel so alive... # # I... # # I feel so ALIVE! # # For the very first time, (for the very first time) # # ..and I think I can FLY! # -[Skye gingerly ducks between the top and middle ropes to enter the ring, lifting his left leg cautiously. Once in the ring, he drapes his arms back and shakes them, not just to show of his chiseled abs, but he slides the shirt off and then kicks it aside. Pointing at himself with his thumbs, Skye walks backward to the center of the ring.]- # Sunshine upon my face... (Sunshine upon my face...) # # A new song for me to sing. # # Tell the world how I feel inside (Tell the world how I feel inside) # # Even though it might cost me everything... # # Now that I know this, so beyond, I can’t hold this. # # I can never turn my back away... # # Now that I’ve seen you... (Now that I’ve seen you) ## # I can never look away...# -[The chorus of the song begins once more and Skye slowly climbs up to the second turnbuckle, wincing through the pain in his knees, and reaching his arms out to the fans, and then he throws them up in the air as fireworks and pyrotechnics fire off behind him at the adjacent corner and sides of the ring. Skye looks out to the crowd for a few moments, before cautiously stepping back down from the turnbuckle, cueing the lights back on.]- # I... # # I feel so ALIVE! # # For the very first time, I can’t deny you. # # I feel so alive... # # I... # # I feel so ALIVE! # # For the very first time, (for the very first time) # # ..and I think I can FLY! # -[The music winds down for Ashner’s intro as he leans back into his corner, waiting for the opening bell to be rung. Across the ring, Jackson Hunter looks across at Ashner with a half-smirk on his face.]- RM: "I don't I've ever seen Skye Ashner in worse condition, Hollywood. Now he's wearing TWO knee braces! I wasn't even aware his other leg had been injured at all." HP: "HA HAA! Ashner was talking all big on Total Dementia, Manning! He said he was gonna beat Jax in two straight falls! Talk about blowing hot freaking air up your own ass!" RM: "Wait a second, Hollywood ... we're waiting for the opening bell to be called ... Jackson Hunter and Skye Ashner are ready to roll ... but where's the referee? How can we..." § Now has come the day, that I take the lead § § and I make you follow § § toast your champagne, cuz I came for greed § § and I fought tomorrow § § if it feels good, then it feels good, and I do it all day § § you want me to play § § you best bring your brain, you best bring your money! § HP: "No ... NO! NONONONONONOOOOOOO!!! IT CAN'T BE HIM! NOT THAT MONKEY HUMPER, DAMMIT!" RM: "Well Hollywood, there's only one man on this earth who walks down that ramp to this song by Saliva!" § Yeah, make me a Superstar § § Yeah, don't matter who you are § § Yeah, make me a Superstar § § Yeah, no matter who you... § (As "Superstar" by Saliva cranks over the PA, the video wall pops to life revealing an image of various mirrors floating whimsically on a background of black nothingness. The mirrors are then focused upon individually, each one showcasing various highlights from a well-known man, mainly high-risk maneuvers. As the lights begin to flicker on and off faster now, a much awaited figure steps through the curtain. As he raises his arms up, the scene on the video wall shows only one solitary mirror now. As the screen focuses in on that one mirror, it suddenly explodes into the phrase "TAKE ANOTHER GOOD LOOK!" in bright gold. Perfectly symmetrical red and blue pyros go off at both sides of the ramp as the lights turn on, and there appears DALE "THE MIRROR" STANWYCZ!!! As the song's riffs continue to tear the space, the crowd lets out another shatteringly loud face pop.) § and all of my pills § § and all of my drags § § is making me, making me, making me § § and all that I feel § § and all that I see § § is fakin' me, fakin' me, fakin' me § RM: "It is him! Dale 'The Mirror' Stanwycz is back in the DCWL!" (Dale walks down the ramp and around ringside, slapping hands with his loyal fans. Unlike the last time we saw him, Dale now has some hair, still short but starting to shape into the style that made him the one and only 'mullet king'. Stanwycz is muscular and cut, much like Kurt Angle. He also sports a huge smile and his deranged brown eyes cast a wild, almost hypnotic stare to his fans. A seemingly permanent, gigantic scar crosses his entire chest, and sports numerous, smaller scars all over his body as the result of his many hardcore battles in the ring. Dale is clad in his trademark faded jeans and work black cowboy boots, but what we notice the most is his black T-Shirt with the face of a smiling Stanwycz and the legend 'The Vindicator Still Sucks' written inside a white, comic book-esque balloon, a garment made famous during the shooting of Dale's last movie this summer. Jackson Hunter is staring at Dale in complete disbelief, his jaw nearly hanging to the canvas. Dale climbs the ring steps, but before entering the ring, he turns out and strikes out into 'The Mirror Stance', sending the crowd into another huge round of wild cheers! He then asks for a microphone.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "Sorry to interrupt, people. I was lounging back in the VIP room in front of a 51" screen and enjoying the action of CR2 with an extra-large tub of buttered popcorn and an ice cold six-shooter. What a night! First, my old buddy Mark Haley kicks the crap out of some anonymous jack-o to win the Platinum Championship... then, we see those bastards Creed and Ketch tear each other to pieces... and let's not forget the freakin' PLUNDERDOME! But before I explain my presence here, let's go down memory lane..." (The video wall lights up with footage of Haplo the Vagabond decimating Dale Stanwycz with a number of devastating Nexus Powerbombs.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "When I was severely injured at the hands of Haplo this past April, I was unsure if I could ever compete again. He hated me, and I'm pretty sure he still does today. But I'm not here to talk about him. The point is, I always knew, one way or another, I'd end up returning... and I always thought about what would I say the day I stepped into this ring again. That moment has arrived. And I thought I'd have some long speech to unwind, but there's not much to say except... 'I'm Back'." (Thunderous pop!) DALE "THE MIRROR": "Still, some warm, nice memories are coming back to me, thanks to these two gentlemen here tonight." (Dale walks towards Jackson Hunter, whose eyes are glued onto him, as Skye leans on the ropes, watching curiously.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "Jackson Hunter. Manitoba's favorite son. We have written great chapters in the history of this industry. And I know there are still people talking about our battles and their outcome. Then I heard Jax whine about Dale not giving him any credit. Tonight, you are the challenger to the DCWL Grand Championship, and I'm aware you have worked your ass out to be where you're standing now. You know something, my friend? I DID acknowledge your efforts both in our UWAC Championship match AND the Grand Championship match we held earlier this year. It didn't matter if you and your pals tried to bribe me over the ooooold Universal Title back in the day, because you were pulling all the stops to climb the damn ladder. Go ask everyone you know. Ask Christian Chazz. Ask Glen Sand. Ask Andre DelNaja. If you want, go and ask Comisar Xago as well in case he's still alive! And don't forget to ask Ratt... they all will agree about one thing: The two might not see a lot of things eye-to-eye... but Jax has earned Dale Stanwycz's respect." (The crowd erupts as "The Mirror" extends his hand to Jax. Hunter looks down at the hand, up to Dale's face, and back down again. Jackson turns his head to the side, and engages in a reluctant but firm handshake. As soon as the pop dies, Dale turns around very slowly, facing the Grand Champion.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "Skye Ashner. "The New Classic". We have also written a number of pages in DCWL history, buddy. We have been both allies, and enemies. You are now the Grand Champion, perhaps the greatest there has ever been, but never forget who did you beat to earn it. That man stands before you now. And that man recognizes Skye Ashner as the guy who earned his stripes fair and square. Which was no easy task; he had to undergo a painful transformation, make an even greater sacrifice, and take the long trip. You could do things the easy way when you got used to cheat your way to the top, as a member of Elemental Disturbance. But you DID take another look. You changed, and did things the hard way instead, which makes your tenure as Grand Champion even more commendable. I don't think there's a lot of guys recalling that situation and giving it its due respect, but I do. Nice going, kid." (The crowd erupts again as Dale and Skye also share a handshake, followed by a brief, friendly hug. As soon as the pop dies, the Minnesota native continues...) DALE "THE MIRROR": "Thanks for not harming the bruised ribs of this 'old foogie', Skye..." (Laughter from the audience.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "But you know something, guys? I miss the active competition. I miss getting physical. I miss being a part of the action. While spending these past months shooting my new motion picture in San Diego, playing DoR at home and watching DCWL on TV were nice things to do, I knew I had to be a part of this extravaganza. That's why, tonight... right here... at CORNERSTONE REVOLUTION II... Dale Stanwycz is going to exert that right as the wheels of fate turn!" (Apeshit pop!) HP: "The only wheels turning around here will be the ones of his wheelchair when his ass is carried back there! Now who this idiot thinks he is?" RM: "This is quite a surprise! Dale Stanwycz has resurfaced after being injured by Haplo the Vagabond over five months ago, and looks in great shape! Could he be planning to turn this Championship match into a Triple Threat contest?" (Dale struts a bit around the ring, basking in the love of his fans. However, he then stops and continues.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "But wait! You don't need to worry, though. Why? There's two reasons for that. The first one is that these old bones of mine haven't healed in full yet and I'm not dumb enough to jeopardize my recovery by throwing myself into the mix." (We hear several fans sitting at ringside 'oww' in more than a little disappointment.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "The second one is that I, Dale Stanwycz, am a FAIR man. Confusing? Not really. What I mean is..." (Stanwycz pauses and steps back a bit before starting a really cheesy impersonation of a certain colleague of his.) DALE "THE MIRROR": "My skin certainly ain't orange, yet my balls are still blue, so whatcha gonna do, when Dale "The Mirror" watches over you??" (As he says this, he rips his T-Shirt to shreds, revealing an official DCWL referee shirt underneath!) RM: "Looks like we'll be having a special guest referee for this contest!" DALE "THE MIRROR": "That's right folks, since I still can't wrestle, I'm calling the shots for this Grand Championship match, so let's get it on!!" (Crowd erupts again as Stanwycz throws his mic out of the ring and calls for the bell!) **DING DING DING** Jackson Hunter swaggers towards center ring, licking his grinning lips in anticipation, and signalling with his hands for Ashner to bring it on. Ashner still remains in his corner, seemingly hesitant to begin the match. Referee Stanwycz moves in on Ashner, ordering him to start the match. Skye takes a deep breath, and begins limping to center ring. HP: "Think about this for a second, Manning ... Skye Ashner is in there with the man who wants to take the title from his ass ... and the dude who he took the title from ... the deck is being further stacked! HA!" Jackson brings up his arms and bends his knees, ready for the first fateful lockup of the match. Ashner does the same, although gritting his teeth in the process. They move towards one another, when Ashner suddenly lashes out with a punch to the face! Hunter is caught completely off-guard, and Ashner follows up with a left cross and a right uppercut! Jackson Hunter falls to the canvas from the impact, but is quickly back to his feet again, only to be met with a series of body blows from Ashner, backing him into the corner! RM: "Jackson Hunter was clearly expecting a technical showdown with Skye Ashner, but the Grand Champion has come out with flying fists!" HP: "What the hell is this?! Get in there, Stanwycz, and break this illegal crap up, dammit!" Skye Ashner jams his forearm into Jax's throat, and continues pressing it for a chokehold! The fans are wildly cheering, as Stanwycz moves in, warning Ashner to break the choke. Ashner pays no attention to the Superstar Referee, forcing the former Champ to yank Ashner out of the corner, and shoving him half way across the ring! Some mild jeers can be heard for Referee Dale's actions, and Skye Ashner is fired up with adrenaline, shoving Stanwycz out of the way to charge back in! Jackson Hunter is ready for him this time, and the challenger darts out with a low shoulder tackle, clipping Ashner's left knee with expert precision! The crowd immediately begins jeering, as Ashner collapses to the canvas, grasping the braced left leg. HP: "HA! See how quick Jackson Hunter can turn things around, Manning?! He's gonna make a GREAT Grand Champion, dammit!" RM: "I'm pretty sure it's the right knee that has sustained the most damage in recent weeks, but the left must also be injured to be in a hard plastic brace." Jax is quick to follow up on the left leg, leaning forwards to scoop it out of Ashner's protective grasp. Suddenly, Skye reaches up for two handfuls of Hunter's hair, and slams his face into the plastic knee brace! Ashner shows no sign of discomfort from the move, as Jackson falls backwards from the stunning attack. Skye is quickly back to his feet, no longer limping on that left leg, as he moves in on the felled Hunter, and drops a plastic knee to the head of Jax, before dragging it all the way down his face, and shoving the knee into his throat for another choke! HP: "Dammit, Stanwycz, disqualify that son of a bitch! Give the first fall to Jackson Hunter! He's using that freaking knee brace as a weapon!" RM: "I think you're right, Hollywood! Skye Ashner doesn't seem to be showing any discomfort with that left leg, and may have only worn the additional brace to use it as a weapon!" The crowd is again loudly cheering for Ashner, while Hunter's arms flail around the canvas seeking relief. Referee Stanwycz moves in on Ashner again, getting in his face about the illegal choke, while Ashner again ignores. Dale appears to be showing some frustration, as he moves around behind Ashner, locks in a reverse waistlock on Skye, lifting him off of Jackson Hunter, before setting him down to Dale's right with a pivot. Dale and Skye share an intense glare for a moment, as Jackson Hunter slowly rises up from the canvas, with visible scratches on his face from the knee brace. RM: "If there was going to be tension involving Dale Stanwycz as referee, I assumed it would be with Jackson Hunter ... but Skye Ashner is fighting a dirty match here, and it's requiring Stanwycz to take action against him!" Ashner shoves Dale aside and charges in, nailing Jackson in the face with a left knee lift, smashing the brace upwards into his chin, and knocking Hunter back down onto the canvas again. Skye grabs Jackson's left leg, and quickly leaps up with a knee drop, smashing it down to the inner knee of Hunter, again using the brace for added impact. Referee Dale shakes his head over Ashner's antics. Skye adjusts the brace on his left leg, shifting it down onto his ankle. Ashner quickly moves in on Jackson Hunter, grabbing the leg and twisting it into a grapevine, before crossing Jackson's own legs, and falling back into a Figure Four Leglock! HP: "DAMMIT! Look at that little cheating fairy ass monger! He's using the freaking knee brace to increase the damn pressure on Jax's own knee, dammit!" RM: "I think Skye Ashner may have been studying some Greg Valentine tapes in preparation for this match!" Jackson Hunter immediately begins screaming in pain, as the adjusted knee brace digs into his ligaments. Referee Stanwycz is unsure of how to call this situation, but decides to drop to his knees, asking Jax if he wants to submit the first fall. Hunter sits up in the leglock, grabbing two handfuls of Dale's referee shirt, screaming about the pain he is from the assisted hold! Ashner has a slight smirk on his face, as he rocks from side to side to further grind Hunter's knee. RM: "It seems that Dale Stanwycz can't seem to find anything wrong with this submission move applied by Skye Ashner! It's a good call, because as far as I know, a knee brace is a legal piece of equipment!" HP: "You're full of CRAP, Manning! The knee brace on his RIGHT LEG is legit, but that other one is out there as a freaking WEAPON!" Referee Dale tries to pry Jackson Hunter off of his shirt, while still asking him if he wants to submit. Suddenly, Jax gives an extra yank on Stanwycz's shirt, shifting the momentum of the hold, and allowing Hunter to reverse it, immediately turning the pressure onto Skye's right knee! Ashner's face suddenly turns from smirk to pained shock, as his injured knee is under assault! He begins screaming for mercy, causing Referee Stanwycz to move to Ashner, but Skye quickly untangles their legs, rolling away while gripping his right knee. HP: "HA! Take that you stupid fairy bastard!" RM: "Skye Ashner's use of the additional knee brace has backfired, and now his damaged right knee has been exploited!" Referee Stanwycz immediately moves in on Ashner, ordering that the left leg knee brace be removed! Ashner isn't bothering to respond to Dale, as he is trying to loosen up the bad knee. Stanwycz grows impatient, and kneels down, forcibly removing the brace from his good leg. Skye doesn't put up a fight, but still shoots Dale a dirty look. Referee Dale brings the brace across the ring to an attendant, and right at that moment, Jackson moves to action from the floor, yanking Ashner's right leg under the bottom rope, before slamming the knee into the ring post! Ashner wails loudly from the pain in his limb, immediately rolling back into the ring, curled into a fetal position in center ring. Hunter begins limping back up the ring steps, still favoring his left leg from the work Ashner did on it. HP: "HERE WE GO, BABY! Skye Ashner is back to being a sitting duck, and Jackson Hunter is gonna pick his ass apart like an infected zit!" Ashner begins crawling towards the ropes, showing once again how badly the right knee is injured. Hunter cuts him off, delivering a right-legged stomp onto Skye's bad knee, bringing out another scream of pain from the Grand Champion. Jackson then grabs hold on Ashner's right ankle, dragging him back to the center of the ring, before raising the leg into the air, and spiking Ashner's knee back down into the canvas! Skye cries out in pain, but a knee drop to the face quickly silences him. Hunter rolls from the knee drop position, into a lateral press, hooking Ashner's left leg, as Referee Stanwycz drops to make the count: ONE! . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . SHOULDER UP BY SKYE ASHNER! Jackson Hunter wastes no time, immediately rolling again, now to Skye's legs, where he secures the right leg under his armpit. RM: "Jackson Hunter has taken on a very methodical pace now, Hollywood. Clearly, he knows he doesn't need to exert himself much to maintain this advantage." Hunter slightly turns the leg, before falling backwards to the canvas, and then applying a leg scissor lock around Skye's thigh, to apply an Achilles Tendon Hold. Jackson continues twisting the ankle inwards, while his scissor lock keeps Skye's upper leg from moving with it, causing Ashner to grown loudly from the pain, bringing his hands up to his face to mask any further sign of pain. Referee Stanwycz moves in on Ashner, asking about a submission, but Skye merely grits his teeth and shakes his head. HP: "Manning, I think you're gonna see for the first-time ever, a Grand Championship Match end in a submission from a wear-down manouver! Ashner is gonna have to quit in this tendon hold! HA!" Skye Ashner continues to try ignoring the pain, while Dale Stanwycz asks him again about a submission. Ashner again shakes his head, and begins trying to go into a meditative state, to keep his body as relaxed as possible to ease the pain. However, in so doing he drops his shoulders flat to the canvas, and Referee Dale makes the pinfall count: ONE! . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . Skye Ashner sits up immediately, breaking the pinfall. He plants his palms into the canvas from this position, and begins try to drag both himself and Jax backwards, hoping to reach the ropes for a break! RM: "Is he going to make it before the pain becomes too much? Skye Ashner may be sacrificing a large chunk of his career to avoid dropping this first fall to Jackson Hunter!" HP: "YES! Put him on the shelf, Jax, and THEN take his freaking title! HA HAAA!" Hunter anticipates where Ashner is heading, and releases the leg scissor lock, before rolling Ashner onto his stomach with the leg still secured, turning the hold into a Half Crab submission! However, Jax misjudges the distance of his roll, bringing Ashner within arm's reach of the ropes, which Skye grasps onto tightly, making Referee Stanwycz order Jackson to break the hold. Hunter takes a few steps backwards with the leg for added pressure, before violently throwing the leg away, slamming it down to the canvas with his release. Ashner rolls into the ropes, clinging to the bottom strand while cradling his knee tenderly. RM: "I think Skye Ashner needs to start thinking about career longevity here. Even if he were to escape this match with the Grand Championship, that knee cannot possibly hold up. I hate to say it, but I think Ashner needs to think about forfeiting the remainder of this match and handing the title over to Jackson Hunter." HP: "HA HAAA! Did we get that on tape?! YES!" Tears are welling up in Ashner's eyes, as he does his best to deal with the pain in his right knee. Slowly, he uses the ropes to pull himself up from the mat, keeping any weight off of the bad knee. Jackson Hunter looks on his his hands on his hips, and a cocky smirk on his face. Hunter approaches Ashner, cocks his fist into the air, and then slaps Skye across the face, causing a sharp echo throughout the arena. Ashner loses his balance and falls back down to the canvas, as Jackson Hunter turns away from his opponent, raising his arms into his self-congratulatory pose. HP: "You're finally seeing the truth, Manning! Jackson Hunter has methodically turned Ashner's knee into a useless piece of flesh over the past month, and now he's reaping the rewards!" Suddenly, Ashner lunges out towards Hunter's legs, sweeping them out from the canvas! As Jackson's back hits the mat, Skye follows through with a roll-up, holding Jax's shoulder down for a desperate pinfall! Referee Stanwycz drops into position for the count: ONE! . . . . . . TWO! . . . . Ashner reaches up with a free hand, grasping onto the second rope for additional leverage, making Hunter unable to kick out! . . . . . THREE! Suddenly, Stanwycz pulls his hand back up at the last second, catching sight of Ashner's illegal pinfall, and quickly rises to his feet, to kick Skye's hand free of the ropes, and allowing Jackson to immediately kick out with conviction, sending Ashner tumbling across the ring. RM: "Wait ... did Stanwycz count to three? I'm sure I saw his hand hit the canvas that third time!" HP: "No freaking way! Stanwycz saw Ashner cheating AGAIN, and put a freaking stop to it, dammit! I never thought Ol' Panzerotti would say it, but the freaking Mirror is doing the right thing!" Ashner zips back to his feet, still being careful to put little weight on his right knee, as he limps directly towards Dale Stanwycz. Skye begins a passionate argument with loud shouts, which causes Referee Dale to raise his hands up, shaking his head to indemnify himself. Ashner gets directly into Stanwycz's face about his officiating, but Dale breaks the staredown to look over Skye's shoulder. Ashner glances to see what Dale is looking at, only to be spun around by Jackson Hunter, kicked in the gut, and then shoved into a double underhook headscissors! RM: "THE BROKEN ARROW! If Jackson Hunter hits it the first fall will be in the books!" Hunter lifts his leg for the Rocker Dropper, but Ashner suddenly bolts upright with a screaming effort, and manages to counter by tossing Jackson up into the air! Jax comes crashing down face-first into the turnbuckle, and staggers backwards, where Ashner delivers a double leg tackle, before snatching both legs, and jumping with his good leg into a front roll cradle! Stanwycz is in position for the count: ONE! . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . . THREE!!! **DING DING DING** PA: "The winner of the first fall ... SKYE AAAAASHNER!!!" The crowd completely erupts, as Jackson Hunter kicks out one second too late. Ashner rises up to his feet, throwing his arms up in a brief celebration, before his right knee gives out, and Ashner collapses back to the canvas again! RM: "ASHNER DID IT! He pinned Jackson Hunter cleanly in the middle of the ring! He's up by one fall, and may still be able to fulfill his promise of a two-fall sweep of this match!" HP: "Get the hell over yourself, Manning! It was a lucky freaking break, but with a dude like Jackson Hunter, you're only gonna get one of them, dammit!" Jackson Hunter is back on his feet, shaking away the last of the cobwebs from his turnbuckle collision, before immediately going back to attack mode, and violently stomping repeatedly on Ashner's bad leg! The crowd's cheers are immediately replaced by boos, as Hunter shows no finesse here, simply trying to cripple Ashner from any further comebacks. HP: "THIS is what you asked for, Manning! Now Ashner isn't just never going to wrestle again ... Jax is gonna make sure he never freaking WALKS again!" Hunter grabs hold of the right ankle, dragging Ashner into the middle of the ring. He places his own right knee onto the back of Ashner's, and then leaps into the air, delivering a Dropping Knee Breaker! Ashner shrieks from the pain of the assault, as Jackson keeps his grasp on the ankle, rising back to his feet. Hunter switches sides now, placing his left knee behind Ashner's damaged wheel, before jumping up again, and delivering the Dropping Knee Breaker from another angle! RM: "Jackson Hunter is relentlessly targeting that knee now! We need to get some medical officials out here to check on that knee, folks." Jackson drops the right ankle, and the immediately picks up the left leg. Ashner immediately begins struggling with his good leg, but Hunter steps through and stops into Skye's midsection, immediately bringing a halt to the resistance. Jax then begins a spinning toe hold with the left leg, before bringing it across to the right knee, and falling back into a Figure Four Leglock! The severe pressure on Ashner's right knee is immediately apparent, as he begins thrashing and writing on the canvas! HP: "HA! Now THAT's what Ol' Panzerotti calls a freaking turnaround! Skye Ashner's cheating ass was using that bogus knee brace earlier, to put an illegal Figure Four on Jax! Now looks what his own stupidity has gotten himself into! HA HAAA!!!" Jackson Hunter sits up in the Figure Four, looking directly into Ashner's face, as he continually kicks his legs outwards in the hold, adding sharp surges of pain through Ashner's bad leg. Referee Stanwycz is in position, asking for a submission, while Ashner valiantly shakes his head. Jax briefly lifts his leg off of Ashner's left ankle, before slamming it right back down again, while causes Skye to emit a gasping scream of intense pain, before he begins frantically tapping out on the canvas! Referee Dale calls for the bell, and quickly moves in to break up the submission hold. **DING DING DING** PA: "The winner of the second fall, evening the match at one fall apiece ... JACKSOOOOOOON HUNTAAAAAAAAAH!!!" Once freed from the Leglock, Ashner immediately rolls towards the ropes, his mouth gaping wide open from the pain coursing in his knee. He rolls right past the ropes, falling stiffly to the concrete below, clearly unaware of his surroundings. RM: "Skye Ashner should just stay out on the floor and take the countout, Hollywood! Just let this match end! I want to see The New Classic wrestle another day!" HP: "Do you really think Jackson Hunter is going to let that happen, Manning?! Not a freaking chance!" RM: "Well, Dale Stanwycz should let it happen as the referee! He's just coming back from a serious injury at the hands of Haplo, so he knows what it's like to be in this position!" Jackson Hunter goes to follow Ashner out to the floor, but is intercepted by Referee Dale, asking that Jax remain in the ring for Ashner. Hunter stops for a moment, smirks with disgust at the former Grand Champion, before raising his hand into a striking position! The crowd rises to their feet in anticipation of the clash, but Hunter then nods his head and backs away. HP: "C'MON, JAX! Slap that stupid bastard! He deserves it!" RM: "Jackson Hunter clearly does not want to risk a disqualification in the final fall of this match, Hollywood. He's here to win the Grand Championship, not dig up old rivalries." Referee Stanwycz raises an eyebrow at Jackson's behaviour, before turning towards the ropes, and beginning a countout on Skye Ashner. Hunter immediately moves in the opposite direction, exiting to the floor on the other side of the ring! Stanwycz doesn't notice Hunter until it's too late, and Jax dashes around the ringpost to where Skye fell, only to find that Ashner is no longer there! Jackson looks up at Stanwycz with a glare of disdain, demanding to know where Ashner went to! Meanwhile, Ashner emerges on the perpendicular side of the ring, crawling out from under the ring apron! The crowd explodes in cheers for Ashner's stealthy moves, immediately alerting Jax to his location, and sending him into action. RM: "We've literally got a game of Cat and Mouse on our hands here, Hollywood! Skye Ashner is looking for any way to avoid contact with Jackson Hunter, and prolong this match along with his Grand Championship reign!" However, Ashner realizes what is going on, and rolls back underneath the ring again! Jackson Hunter is boiling over with anger, when he sees Skye missing again, and hops back onto the apron to bring up the issue with Referee Dale. Stanwycz can offer no explanation, as Ashner rolls back out on the same side of the ring again, quickly rising to his feet, and yanking Hunter's ankles off of the canvas, making him fall to the floor, and smash his face into the ring apron! Ashner quickly goes into action again, grabbing two handfuls of a stunned Jackson's hair, and thrusting him backwards, where the back of his head collides with the guard rail! The crowd is loudly cheering, as Skye Ashner rolls back into the ring, trying to lie still on the canvas to rest his bad knee. RM: "Skye Ashner will NOT give up! He will NOT concede this match to Jackson Hunter! The Grand Champion fill fight until his leg falls right off of his hip! This is the heart of a champion! The blood of a warrior! SKYE ASHNER WILL LIVE FOREVER!" HP: "C'mon, Manning ... cut it out ... we're in the Calgary Saddledome, dammit, not the set of Braveheart!" On the floor, Jackson Hunter begins to rise up, but then crumbles to the concrete again, still in a daze from the guard rail collision. Referee Stanwycz begins to count out the challenger: ONE! . . . TWO! . . . THREE! . . . FOUR! . . Jackson begins to stir again, crawling towards the ring apron slowly. . . FIVE! . . . SIX! . . . SEVEN! . . Hunter digs his fingernails into the ring apron, pulling himself up to his feet. Meanwhile, Skye Ashner uses the ropes to pull himself up as well. . . EIGHT! . . . NINE! . . Jackson Hunter in kneeling on the ring apron, about to re-enter the ring through the ropes, when Skye Ashner dashes across the canvas, delivering a baseball slide, nailing Hunter directly in the crotch! HP: "DAMN! What the hell is that stupid fairy doing?!" RM: "Whatever it takes to remain the DCWL Grand Champion, Hollywood!" Jackson tumbles off of the apron back to the concrete, curled up in a ball with his hands stuffed between his legs, rocking back and forth in immense pain. Ashner is on the canvas, also feeling pain, as the baseball slide jammed his right knee again. Ashner can take the pressure no longer, and begins unclasping the knee brace protecting it. Referee Dale is quickly on top of Ashner, getting the brace out of his hands as soon as it is unfastened, to keep Skye from using it as a weapon. RM: "Dale Stanwycz is not letting ANYTHING slide as the official in this match tonight, Hollywood! The Mirror might need to train our regular referees to be more effective!" Ashner has his head bowed down, as he tries to plot his next defensive move, to protect his injured right knee. Meanwhile, Jackson Hunter has risen back to his feet, doubled over and gritting his teeth from the lower abdominal pain. Hunter shakes his head, and then slowly begins to stand upright. He turns to look into the ring, to find Skye Ashner is now standing center ring, with his eyes bugged out with raw emotion. SKYE: "C'MON MOTHER FUCKER! GET IN HERE AND FINISH THIS!" Jackson Hunter's face turns to a frown of disgust, and he suddenly dives back into the ring, quickly rising to his feet. Ashner greets him with a punch to the head, followed by a flurry of chops, backing Hunter into the corner, where Ashner slaps him in the face, and then whips Jackson across towards the opposite corner, only to have Hunter reverse the attempt! Ashner smashes chest-first into the buckles, and staggers backwards in a daze. Hunter spins the Champion around, kicks him in the midsection, and double underhooks the arms, smashing Ashner's face into the canvas, with the Double Underhook Rocker Dropper! RM: "BROKEN ARROW! Jackson Hunter just nailed Skye Ashner with the Broken Arrow! We may have a new Grand Champion!" Hunter rolls Ashner onto his back, hooking a leg for the pain, and looking up into the air with a passionate effort! Referee Stanwycz drops into position and counts: ONE! . . . . . . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . THREE!! SHOULDER UP BY ASHNER! The crowd ERUPTS into wild cheers, as Skye Ashner escapes Hunter's finishing move! Jackson sits up onto the canvas, glaring at Dale Stanwycz with distrustful eyes, and questioning the speed of the count without speaking any words. HP: "DAMMIT! That was a THREE COUNT! Jackson Hunter is the CHAMP! He's the freaking CHAMP, DAMMIT!!!" Suddenly, all eyes turn to the entranceway, as Ratt Klyczofvski charges down the aisle, with a HUGE smile on his face! He's carrying the bottle of liquor left by Matt Cole, and walking with a slight swagger. Ratt is leaping up and down, clearly in a celebration of a victory that didn't happen. RM: "Oh my ... Ratt Klyczofvski is out here, Hollywood, but he's clearly under the influence, and not in his right mind!" Jackson Hunter sneers at the sight of the Drunken Ratt, but Klyczofvski doesn't even make eye contact with Jax, instead rushing over to the timekeeper's table, and scooping the Grand Championship into his puny arms. Ratt slides into the ring, spilling some alcohol in the process, and begins jumping up and down with the title belt, trying to offer it to Jackson Hunter. HP: "Ratt has no freaking clue that the match is still going on, dammit! What a fool ... he's the reason that sex offenders should be subjected to manditory castration." Hunter is on his feet now, screaming at Ratt about the match being over, while Skye Ashner begins to struggle to his feet in the background. Referee Stanwycz looks on, shaking his head with a smile. Ratt tilts his head to the side, slightly confused by the news he's receiving. He looks down at the title belt, then back up at Hunter, before walking away from his charge. Hunter is about to turn back to Ashner, when Ratt suddenly bounds off of the ropes, soars across the ring with the belt raised, and smashes its golden plate into the face of Jackson Hunter! HP: "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, RATT?!" RM: "He's finally had enough of Jackson Hunter's abuse!" Jax falls to the canvas, and Ratt spits on Hunter, before repeatedly kicking him! Referee Stanwycz looks on, his mouth hanging open, realizing he has no choice, but to call for the bell! **DING DING DING** PA: "The winner of the third fall, as a result of a disqualification ... and the NEEEEEEEEEW DCWL GRAND CHAMPIOOOOOOOOOOON ... JACKSOOOOOOON HUNTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" (The crowd suddenly erupts into riotous jeers! Ratt Klyczofvski continues kicking Jackson Hunter, until Stanwycz moves in and drags him into the opposite corner. Skye Ashner has just regained his standing position, and looks on in complete shock, as Stanwycz removes the title belt from Ratt's hands, and brings it over to award to Jackson Hunter!) HP: "YES! OH HELL YES! HA HA HAAAA! JACKSON HUNTER IS THE GRAND FREAKING CHAMPION! SKYE ASHNER IS DEAD! FREAKING DEAD I SAY!!!" RM: "This can't be right, folks ... we can't have the Grand Championship change hands like this on the biggest night of the DCWL year ... Dale Stanwycz needs to cancel that decision immediately!" (Jackson Hunter slowly begins rising up from the canvas, and as he does so, Stanwycz raises his arm in a token of victory! Hunter looks down into his other hand, realizing that the Grand Championship title belt is in his grasp! Suddenly, a massive smile creeps upon his face, and he shoves Stanwycz out of the way, before thrusting the title belt into the air! He looks over into the corner where Ratt Klyczofvski is standing, only to see that Ratt is now ALSO smiling a big mischievious grin! Ratt charges across the ring, leaping into the arms of Jackson Hunter, who gives him a big kiss on the cheek!) RM: "Wait ... WAIT JUST A SECOND! Ratt didn't turn on Jackson Hunter at all ... it was a SETUP! NO! NO!" HP: "HA HAAAA!!! BRILLIANT! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! RM: "Jackson Hunter is the Grand Champion, and I'm in completely disbelief, folks ... I just don't know what else to say ..." (Suddenly, the title celebration is halted, as “El Distorto de Melodica” - an instrumental piece by Everclear - blares through the arena speakers. The DCWL Commissioner, Christian Marquardt, dressed in an exquisite Italian suit, emerges to a mixed reaction. Marquardt pulls out a microphone and speaks.) Marquardt: "Congratulations, Mr. Hunter. I have just two things to say before the party continues. Mr. Klyczofvski ... please return to the back and pack your things immediately ... because YOU ARE SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY for interfering in a Championship Match! Secondly, I am ORDERING the final fall of this Grand Championship Match to be restarted, and it will ONLY end with a pinfall or submission! RING THE BELL!" **DING DING DING** Referee Stanwycz follows the decision passed his way, calling for the bell. Meanwhile, Jackson Hunter drops Klyczofvski back onto the mat, glaring at him with a suddenly and complete hatred! Jax throws the title belt to the canvas, and wraps his hands around Ratt's throat, backing his agent into the corner. Skye Ashner suddenly soars across the ring, smashing both Jax and Ratt with a Stinger Splash! RM: "THE MATCH IS BACK ON! THE MATCH IS BACK ON!" HP: "NO! Who the hell does Marquardt think he is?! The referee's decision is FINAL! IT'S FINAL, DAMMIT!" Hunter releases Ratt, who stumbles under the bottom rope, and begins staggering off to the backstage area, while fans throw pieces of garbage at him. Jackson spins around towards Ashner, taking a wild swing at him, only to have Skye duck underneath the attempt, lock him in a waistlock, and deliver a Northern Lights Suplex! Ashner holds the bridge for a pinfall, and Referee Dale counts: ONE! . . . . . . . . . TWO! . . . . Ashner's right knee begins to quiver, under the pressure of holding the bridge . . . . . . KICKOUT BY JACKSON HUNTER! Skye Ashner immediately rolls to his feet, gritting his teeth with tears in his eyes to deal with the pain, while a disoriented Hunter also rises up, and walks straight into... *! SMACK !* ... a textbook superkick by Ashner! Jackson collapses to the canvas, and Skye moves in to go for the pin again, but suddenly stops, and looks up at the turnbuckle! The crowd ROARS its approval, and Ashner begins painstakingly scaling the buckles to the top! RM: "He's going for LIFE'S VELOCITY! Don't do it, Skye! The knee can't possibly pull it off!" Ashner is now perched on the top turnbuckle, but he appears to be having trouble holding his balance. The brief delay up there is enough for Hunter, who is beginning to rise up again, safely out of position for Ashner's finisher now. However, Ashner STILL leaps at the challenger, nailing him with a Missile Dropkick to the face! Hunter crumbles to the canvas, and Ashner screams in pain, before defying it all, and leaping on top of him for the pin! Referee Stanwycz counts: ONE! . . . . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . . . . . . THREE!! KICKOUT BY JACKSON HUNTER! The crowd suddenly reacts with massive jeers, as Stanwycz signals that it was only a two count! Ashner rolls off of his opponent, holding his knee as if something finally gave way in there. Jackson Hunter uses the ropes to stagger up, sucking wind for all he's worth, before moving in on the prone Ashner, grabbing the leg for another Figure Four Leglock! HP: "YES! It's ALL over now! After Jackson Hunter wins this AGAIN, can we call him a TWO-TIME Grand Champion?! HA HAAA!!!" Jax begins to wrap the left leg, but before he can cross it over onto the injured right knee, Ashner reaches up to counter with a small package! Referee Stanwycz is back in position again: ONE! . . . . . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . . . . Jackson Hunter shifts his weight, reversing the small package into one of his own! Stanwycz counts again: ONE! . . . . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . . . . . THREE! Ashner reverses the small package again! Stanwycz counts: ONE! . . . . . . . . TWO! . . . . . . . . . . . . THREE!!! **DING DING DING** PA: "The winner of the third fall ... and STILL DCWL GRAND CHAMPIOOOOOON .... SKYE AAAAAAAAASHNEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!" (The crowd positively EXPLODES into cheers that make the Saddledome foundations rumble! Jackson Hunter rolls out under the bottom rope, slamming his fists onto the ring apron repeatedly, as Dale Stanwycz picks up the Grand Championship from the canvas, handing it back to its rightful owner! The tears begin pouring from Ashner's eyes, clearly a mix of pain and absolute joy, as if he had just won the title for the first time!) RM: "SKYE ASHNER DOES IT! He retains the DCWL Grand Championship!" HP: "This is freaking HIGHWAY ROBBERY, DAMMIT! Jackson Hunter IS the Grand Champion, and that cannot be denied!" (Ashner uses Dale Stanwycz's shoulder and the ropes to help him rise back to his feet, where he lifts the title into the air for another massive cheer! Ashner is about to exit the ring, when suddenly, a simple, haunting hollow reed flute melody sounds out, piercing through the audience. In seconds though, the flute is quickly drowned out by the loud and manic rhythms of Japanese tyko drumming. The crowd begins to boo as a name is spelled out on the massive monitor: N-A-J-A. As the drumming reaches a crescendo, Naja Takemara stalks out from behind the curtain, his shoulder heavily taped from the Submission Match, with a microphone in his other hand.) NAJA: "SKYE ASHNER! SKYE ASHNER! Naja watched your match tonight, and he thinks you're a very lucky man. But you see, Skye ... your luck is about to end. Because Naja still has ONE Title Match coming to him as a result of my Stunning performance in the Apocalypse Match! And Skye ... that one Title Match ... IS NOW!!!" (Takemara suddenly charges down the aisle, holding his damaged shoulder close to his body. Skye Ashner backs into the ring, limping, and holding out his hands to try and reason with Takemara. Stanwycz looks around for some kind of instruction, until he finally realizes the choice is in his hands ... and he calls for the bell!) **DING DING DING** Ashner suddenly realizes the predicament he's in, having to defend the Championship in two consecutive matches! He shakes his head, still gasping for air, as Naja darts in with near-fresh quickness, and easily grabs hold of Ashner's right leg. However, Skye immediately counters with an inzugiri kick, nailing Naja in the back of the head! Skye quickly rolls him over for a pinfall, and Stanwycz drops down to count: ONE! . . . . . . . TWO! . . . . . Naja slips out from underneath Ashner, rolling over on top of the Champion, easily reaching up to grab his legs, pulling them upwards, and crossing them into the Rising Sun! RM: "This is not right, Hollywood! Naja Takemara has had well over an hour to rest since his match against The Vindicator!" HP: "I don't give a crap what's fair, Manning ... I just want to see someone ... ANYONE ... take that damn title from Ashner!" Ashner is trapped in the middle of the ring, as Stanwycz moves in to ask him for a submission. Ashner shakes his head repeatedly, reaching out for Dale and screaming "WHY?!" Stanwycz is taken aback by this reaction, but maintains his position, Ashner struggles to reach for the ropes, but sees they are several feet from his grasp. Skye looks out to the crowd, seeing his fans cheering him on to make a comeback, when his body finally gives way, and he submissively nods his head, tapping the canvas with his hand! Stanwycz calls for the bell! **DING DING DING** PA: "Your winner, and the NEEEEEEEEEEEW DCWL GRAND CHAMPIOOOOOOON ... NAJAAAAAAAAA TAKEMAAAAAARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" (Naja leaps to his feet and snatches the title away from Dale Stanwycz's hands, and climbs up the turnbuckles to show off his cheaply won Championship. However, Naja is met with nothing but loud jeers from the crowd! Takemara hops off the turnbuckle, goes back to Stanwycz, ordering him to make the crowd cheer him, but Dale shrugs his shoulders, and returns to checking on Ashner.) RM: "I don't understand this at all, Hollywood ... I thought Naja Takemara fought for honor, but this kind of victory - especially for the Grand Championship - holds no honor at all." HP: "Honor?! BAH! Ashner ain't the champ anymore, bottom line!" (Naja hops up to the turnbuckles again, hoping to change the minds of the fans by raising the title up again, but the boos are even louder now. Finally, he gives up and storms off to the backstage area with the title belt. Meanwhile, Dale Stanwycz is leaning over Ashner, calling out for a medical team, when suddenly...) *! THWACK !* (Jackson Hunter is back in the ring, and attacks Stanwycz with a steel chair to the back of the head! Stanwycz lets out an unexpected scream of pain, arching his back, as Hunter throws the chair aside, then locks Dale into a Dragon Sleeper, followed by locking in a leg scissors around the waist of Stanwycz! The crowd is now RIOTING with wild boos, throwing trash into the ring! Still, Jax refuses to release the hold on The Mirror!) RM: "What on earth is Jackson Hunter doing?! Why would he want to attack Dale Stanwycz!? He lost this title match fairly, in the middle of the ring!" HP: "It's not true, Manning! Jax had the title WON! It was IN HIS FREAKING HANDS! And Stanwycz not only took it away from him, he then turned around and handed the title to Naja Takemara!" (Jackson Hunter continues wrenching on the hold, gritting his teeth as he pulls with all his might on Dale's head. Suddenly, the crowd cheers wildly, as Tawny Blake charges out from the backstage area! Hunter sees her sliding into the ring, and he quickly releases the hold. Jax slithers out of the ring, as Dale Stanwycz slumps down onto the canvas next to Skye Ashner. Tawny is quick to check on both of them, as Jackson Hunter staggers away from ringside with venom in his eyes.) HP: "What a freaking night!" RM: "You said it, Hollywood ... and we are completely out of time. There are A LOT of unanswered questions that will need to be dealt with at the next episode of Total Dementia! Don't you dare miss it, folks! Good night, and thank you for joining us for Cornerstone Revolution!" (Our final shot is in the ring, with Dale Stanwycz groggily sitting up on the canvas, while Tawny Blake checks on both him and Skye Ashner with a concerned look, as the camera fades to black.)
